And, when the game was launched, the featured items did not show up nor did they show up on the monitor.

Because when we went back in to deny access, we included the system, the administrator and the user this time. It seemed that when we denied access to the folder, we didn't deny it to the whole system. To my surprise, the featured items were back and were also showing up as being accessed. Then we changed the properties of the folder and again brought up the launcher. All of the featured items showed up in the folder as expected and also showed up being accessed on the monitor. We reset the featured items folder back to its' original state and set up the process monitor, then brought up the launcher. I'm back and I have some information for you. That's why I'm asking to see if others noted this or knows anything about it. So, maybe this is completely normal? I can't find anything when I run google to explain the featured items, though. Granted, every thing I've read says to only look at the "Package" section and says nothing about the "PNG" section. I'm just curious as to why the game seems to be still trying to access the featured item png files unsuccessfully. The "Featured Items" folder has been empty for quite some time. Thanks for responding! As I stated above, though, I already did the deny write to that folder. It causes tremendous lag and since doing that, I don't have the lag problems that I used to have. If you've done it correctly, the folder will no longer have the featured thumbs show up. You will need to change the properties of the folder to read only by denying the write capability, then delete the thumbs. I think your problem may be the featured items folder, which relates to the store items EA wants you to buy.

Maybe even try to find out how to fix it.Īny help or insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated! I hate to be a pest, but I just want to make sure before I look too much more, that this isn't the issue. I do have a few "custom content" files of merged store content, but I'm not surprised it is accessed that often (around 10,000 times) as those files have SO many items in them. So, if you look at my picture, the first png file ALONE, was accessed 22,983 TIMES! When others run this program, are these png files normal?ĭoes anyone know anything about this? Is it possible the png files are part of what the game uses for us to see items in the game? I am probably stretching that a bit, but I have no idea why one png file could be accessed 20,000 times.Ĭould this be the reason my game is slowing down so much? Do you think I should undo the deny writes to my "Featured Items" folder? Has anyone else had experience with Process Monitor or these png files?įYI: I did look at the package file in Process Monitor, but MOST of the files that are being access are the "Full Build" files found in the main program files of the game.

Here is a screenshot I took (plus a link because it is pretty tiny lettering): If I understand it correctly (please let me know if I'm incorrect), the game tries to access these png files THOUSANDS of times during the game. I do have in store game mode shut off and also I have followed Crinrict's instructions on how to deny writing abilities for pictures in the "Featured Items" folder in my Sims 3 folder.

The total # of events JUST for those "png" "Featured Items" was 2 million! I was shocked! I kept expecting one of my mod files to be messed up (though I run Dashboard frequently and usually is all good including most recent time).

Well, the biggest culprit I found was the "Featured Items" in "png" format. I played for about 4-5 min and then exited after.

I thought it was a great idea to try so I could see if there are any items in my mods folder that was being accessed too much. It basically tells you what files are being accessed and how many times throughout your game play. However, I came across a thread about a program called "Process Monitor". I understand a lot of the issue is just the way the game was made. So, lately my game has been kind of laggy and I have been researching what it could be (here is dxdiag info if you want to know).
