But what I find most interesting about both pop and Latin music dominating the charts is that this is, in part, due to the success of remixes recently. Rauw Alejandro, Bad Bunny, Nio García, Los Legendarios, TINI, and KAROL G are all big names contributing to this success. Latin music is SUPER close behind it, both in the number of songs charting and in streaming total. This is, obviously, in part due to Olivia Rodrigo's MASSIVE success - she accounts for 28,296,120 of these streams alone (not all towards pop!) - but the current success of artists like The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, and even Doja Cat is helping pop be on top of the global charts currently. Total streams bit was just for fun, but also really is showing how hard pop music is globally dominating right now. Obviously, genre was something I had to check out - the main inspiration of this post, after all. Tiktok is part of this, obviously, but this showing that the age of the song is slowly meaning less for current success.

But the recent resurgence of "Beggin'" and "Dinero" are what interest me here, two songs that haven't even broken 75M total streams ("Beggin'" is sitting at 69M, and "Dinero" hasn't even cracked 50M) but have seen a HUGE resurgence. The likes of The Weeknd, Harry Styles, and Dua Lipa having long-lasting hits on the Spotify charts makes sense as those songs are pretty heavy in people's playlists and, well, they're good catchy songs.
